Nippon – Large Hand-Painted Vase/Lamp
This is an old and beautiful 12 ½" hand-painted vase that has been professionally drilled to use as a lamp. It is a black brown with 3 ¼" x 8” white oval ‘windows” and panel of white all around. Looking through the window, you can see a lake with shoreline and shrubs, and a large tree. The lake goes all around. There is gold trim leaves on brown, with white flowers on top of the neck above the “window”. It has six scalloped rims and embossed elephant handles with rings in their trunks. (They could be bird heads with large beaks – possibly parrots.) The gold parts are worn here and there, especially on the handles. Mom had this piece in her collection for many years. It is marked in blue with what looks like a heart or tear and Hand-Painted on a slant on either side and Nippon across the bottom. No chips, cracks, or crazing. (11-18-23-C)
